Footwear

When taking part in any activity it is important to wear the correct footwear for the job, to ensure feet, knees , ankles etc are kept protected from either impact or in the case of knees undue twisting.

During  a ZUMBA class although the impact is kept quite low, we do change direction alot, this can give the knees a bit of a hard time, so for class is it better to wear a trainer that has a spin spot on the ball of the foot.  This can be a bald area or decreasing circles on the sole of the shoe where the ball of the foot sits. These areas are usually found on dance trainers, or tennis/squash shoes. Regular trainers are ok for the support, but please remember that these running style trainers are made for forward propulsion.

Footwear need not be expensive,  dance trainers can be bought on line, but can also be found in shoe shops around MK. (Brantano/Sport Soccer/Sole to Sole).  Have a look at the sale racks, when I need to buy more, I find my size, then just turn them over to look at the soles to ensure they have a spin spot, before I even bother to try them on.
